Sutton selects Broomleigh for Durand Close

Following a competition with other housing associations, The London Borough of Sutton has selected Broomleigh to work in partnership with them and local residents on the regeneration of one of their estates, Durand Close.

Durand Close is in Carshalton and comprises mainly three and four bedroom flats. The decision by Sutton Council follows a selection process in which Broomleigh was in competition with five other shortlisted housing associations. Broomleigh will now work with residents and the Council to develop a 'master plan' for the regeneration of the estate. Most of the residents have expressed a preference for the estate to be demolished and replaced with new homes and landscaping served by an improved road layout.

A proportion of the new homes will be available for private sale and potentially some shared ownership opportunities too. This will help to fund the regeneration of Durand Close and also create a better mix of social, shared ownership and private homes making Durand Close a place where people want to live.
