Going Green...
One of our key aims in the redevelopment of Durand Close is to revitalise the natural environment and to incorporate energy efficient features into all the new homes.
Family homes will be set in tree lined streets; low level apartment blocks will be spaced out to improve views and newly landscaped public spaces will be managed and maintained.
The riverside walk will be restored to provide a valuable natural resource for leisure, relaxation, pedestrian access and cycle routes. Existing mature trees and wildlife will be protected, creating an improved ecological setting. A pocket park will encourage recreation and leisure, while the addition of artwork and sculptures will complement the natural environment.
A range of energy efficient features will be incorporated into all the new homes, contributing to lower household running costs and helping to protect the planet. These will be designed and constructed to achieve a 'very good' Eco Homes rating as per the Code for Sustainable Building (CSB). Materials and fittings will also be carefully selected to be in line with the aims of the World Wildlife Fund's 'One Planet Living' programme. |
