Built in the 1960's and suffering from chronic social and economic problems with historically the highest child density in the South East, Durand Close comprises 295 homes of mainly three and four bedroom apartments.
Unable to attract significant funding to redevelop the estate and with over 80% of residents, who responded, saying that they thought the estate should be demolished and replaced, Sutton Council sought a regeneration partner.
Broomleigh Housing Association (part of Affinity Sutton Group) was selected through competition involving residents to work with Sutton Council on the redevelopment and future management of Durand Close.
